The Italian style?Sometimes in the ballroom community, one hears about "Italian style" dancing, usually with negative connotations. As I once said, it's not clear to me what "Italian style" is. Is it how Augusto Schiavo dances, or how Fabio Selmi and Simona Fancello dance, or how Luca Baricchi dances? Those people don't all seem to me to come from the same style. Through the miracles of modern technology, though - specifically, Youtube videos - it's recently come to my attention that there are similarities between certain Italian style dancers. In particular, I've noticed a, shall we say, unconventional position of the man's right hip when outside partner in the foxtrot feather step. |
