EASTERN ISLES GLOSSARY OF ABBREVIATIONS AC Armor Class, a set of numbers representing the defensive capabilities of the character. AD Averaging Die; an AD6 is a D6 with 1 added to results of 1 or 2 and 1 subtracted from results of 5 or 6. BD Body, a characteristic representing the ability of the character to withstand physical injury. CH Charisma, a characteristic representing the ability of the character to control the voluntary actions of others. CN Constitution, a characteristic representing the general health and resilience of the character. D# A random number between 1 and # inclusive with equal probabilities, typically generated using a die with # sides. DX Dexterity, DY adjusted for the effects of encumbering items. DY Natural Dexterity, a characteristic representing the character's ability to perform difficult manual tasks. EL Experience level, a measure of the depth and breadth of the character's background. EN Endurance, a characteristic representing the ability of the character to withstand fatigue and physical abuse. EP Experience point, used to track the overall experience of the character and to determine EL. GM Game Manager or Gamesmaster, the player who manages the game world. HT A characteristic representing the height of the character, in inches. IB Intellectual Base, a D6 affecting both IQ and WS. IQ Intelligence, a characteristic representing the perceptiveness of the character. PB Physical Base, a D6 affecting both ST and CN. PD Promoting Die; a PD# is the number of times a D# is generated to obtain a result other than # (thus usually equal to 1). RD Round, a period of time of variable length averaging 8 1/3 seconds. SL Skill Level, used to quantify mastery the character has of a skill. In skill descriptions, refers to skill being described. SR Natural Strength, a characteristic representing the ability of the character to perform tasks requiring physical force. ST Strength, SR adjusted for the effects of encumbering items. WC Encumbered Weight, WT plus one per full 14 lb carried. For rations requirements, the 24 hour daily average is approximated by including only the ENC of armor. WS Wisdom, a characteristic representing the mental retention capabilities of the character. WT Weight, a characteristic representing the weight of the character, in stone (1 stone = 14 pounds).
