Armoror Enchantment Skill Descriptions

Armoror enchantments are used to make magic weapons and armor. The Basic Enchantment and Lightness enchantments are used on both weapons and armor; Sharpness is used on weapons; Hardness is used on armor. The more expensive required materials for each enchantment are as listed in the skill descriptions; tools and miscellaneous materials are also required which may be included in living expenses of at least 100c/month.

To make a sword +1 to hit, for example, an armoror would sequentially cast Basic Enchantment 1, Lightness 1, Basic Enchantment 1 (again), and Hardness 1. If either of the Basic Enchantments failed, they would simply be recast. If either of the other enchantments failed, the preceding Basic Enchantment would be recast prior to recasting that other enchantment. A similar process would be used to make a shield subtract one from one's armor class - making one harder to hit - substituting Hardness for Sharpness.

Two handed weapons are known to require twice as many levels of Sharpness enchantments.

The standard way to improve a weapon from +1 to +2 is to cast Basic Enchantment 1, Basic Enchantment 2, Lightness 2, Basic Enchantment 1, Lightness 1, then repeat the entire sequence substituting Sharpness for Lightness. Formulae for more highly enchanted weapons, as well as what to do if an enchantment is failed while improving a weapon, are traditionally learned by apprentices from their masters.
