The Laratoa dwarf group

Dwarf group expedition reports

five Minifigs dwarves

Thram, Kurzon, Stonehead, Dain, and Barik. Thram is relatively new to
the group. Kurzon has been with the group, with some absences, since the
beginning. Stonehead, a miner, was a founding member of the group. Dain
has been with the group for a while, and Barik - who normally uses an axe
and shield - has been with the group even longer.

three Reaper dwarves

Gumnad, Farin, and Fundul. Fundul was a highly experienced battleax and
shield trainer who joined the group fairly early; he died when a dragon
happened across the dwarves and picked off the character with the
shiniest equipment. Gumnad and Farin were two of his pupils. The Farin
figure was formerly used for Gundorm, who was killed by a Jabberwock.

three Reaper female dwarves

Sapphire, Mara, and Crystal. The girls are the physicians of the group,
although Crystal spends most of her time trading with the natives for the
food for the group. Sapphire is Fundul's neice.

three GW Lord of the Rings dwarves

Rogar, Kasov, and Gror. Rogar is a miner who was Stonehead's partner for
many years before the dwarf group started. Kasov is a highly skilled
broadax trainer who was happy to leave the overly commercialized dwarf
city of Zokat. Gror has been learning from Kasov, and is approaching his
level of expertise with the broadax.

GW LoTR dwarf and Reaper dwarf

Thorfid and Karis are two backers of the dwarf group who have generally
remained behind in Zokat, though Thorfid has now ventured to the east
side of the mountains. Karis was Fundul's protege, and kind of took over
his battleax training group when Fundul ventured across the mountains.
Thorfid is the royalists' pretender to the throne, though he has little
influence outside of the minority royalist circles in Zokat.

rhinoceros and bison manticore

Creatures the dwarves used to hunt. The rhino and greatox provided food
when the dwarves were just getting established on the far side of the
mountains, though rhinos are too dangerous to hunt on purpose. The
manticore provided cash up until the time that the dwarves were strong
enough to raid the goblins in the old dwarf city.

dwarves fighting goblins closeup

A battle between the dwarves and the goblins. The dwarves were a hunting
party that had set an ambush for goblins; however, these goblins were too
large a group, and the dwarves were forced to retreat up a ravine into
mountains. Eventually the found a good location to try to stop the
goblins, and the goblins were forced to retreat back down the mountain.
Pictured is the battle front after a few preliminary skirmishes, when
the goblins' strongest fighters engaged.

This picture and the picture below were taken for possible use in an
article in the Boston Globe online site, boston.com. Since the set up
was recreated for the picture, some details may be wrong.

dwarves fighting goblins overview

This picture shows more of the goblins' reserves, though it's still short
a couple of goblins.
