Violet, Argost, Owain, Lhami, Randall, Athemenes, and Dawn prepared for the expedition to Fomigar to obtain additional breeding stock for the pegasus ranch. Two ships were engaged for the expected eight month expedition and financial arrangements were made for everyone. Owain trained Faustus for five months before leaving on the expedition, which began on mid year's day: 1609.06.28.

Upon reaching Fomigar, the group found a herd of pegasus and captured a stallion; Violet created an ice floe to float the stallion down the river. A smaller stallion joined from curiousity, and was dubbed Zephyr.

The group then went back out, taking Zephr as a kind of native guide. Violet tried to figure out a way to take Zephr back with them, as she thought he was cute. However, Zephr died in a cave lion attack; one of the cave lions also tore off Randall's right arm, but it was reattached by Lhami and Dawn using an aqua vitae from Argost. A larger stallion was found, captured, and brought back to the ship.

Ultimately the expedition returned to Laratoa with four new pegasus for the Earl Janistaar. The hope was that they had great blood lines and were stunted from a limited diet and constant running from lions, as opposed to poor blood lines augmented by unlimited food and constant exercise.
